Ladies' Home Journal recently featured an article on Tiny Homes , about 3 different families living in small spaces. The average American home is 2,400 square feet (223 square meters) as of 2010 ( source ), while the homes featured in this article were 128 sq ft (12 sq m), 960 sq ft (89 sq m), and 336 sq ft (31 sq m). average size of an American home through the years The families ranged in size from a married couple to a married couple with 2 kids, and for the most part, they were happy with their decision to downsize and live in smaller digs. While I think the two super small homes are a little extreme, a family of four living in a 960 square foot home sounds doable. The most important thing is that the house be well designed for that scenario. Mr. G and I lived in a house that was just under 1100 square feet and had ample space. Every room had a good size closet, the kitchen cabinets went right up to the ceiling, and there was no wasted space in the floor plan . . b...
I'd never heard of a babymoon. (My iPhone hasn't either. It wanted to change it to Babylon!) Sounds like a great idea.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the view of your feet over the baby bump. Your feet look so tiny and distant.
Babymoons might be an American thing. The bump is getting huge! I need to take some photos from the side.
DeleteGreat idea. Very amusing proportions in the photo. You're in countdown mode! First week of November?
ReplyDeleteWe loved it! Yep, I'm due November 1st! 38 days to go if the baby wants to come on time :)
DeleteSuch a lovely sunrise!
ReplyDeleteCan you take a side on photo to share how 'popped out' you are?
Our holiday had live in staff, and included a cute little 2 year old. I was in heaven trying to get him to smile and wave and say a few English words (bye bye etc)
Sure, I'll post a side angle soon! Aww, 2 year olds are fun :)
DeleteA babymoon sounds like a good idea. You must both be getting very excited now!
ReplyDeleteWe are so excited though it's still surreal to think about being a parent!
DeleteAhhhhh...the relief of being back online properly :-)
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful sunrise. Only 38 days to go - wow! Are you still at work? Definitely a great time to get away for a short break together.
As I mentioned on my blog, I'm sure I've seen the term 'babymoon' used in parenting magazines to mean the time after the baby is born when you are in that 'honeymoon' phase of just being awestruck at this new little person. Either way, I really like the term!
Sunrises make mornings even better :)
DeleteYes, still at work. Maternity leave at my work is 12 weeks unpaid so I will (hopefully!) be working up until the last minute so I can use that time after the baby arrives.
