Ladies' Home Journal recently featured an article on Tiny Homes , about 3 different families living in small spaces. The average American home is 2,400 square feet (223 square meters) as of 2010 ( source ), while the homes featured in this article were 128 sq ft (12 sq m), 960 sq ft (89 sq m), and 336 sq ft (31 sq m). average size of an American home through the years The families ranged in size from a married couple to a married couple with 2 kids, and for the most part, they were happy with their decision to downsize and live in smaller digs. While I think the two super small homes are a little extreme, a family of four living in a 960 square foot home sounds doable. I never really understand why, but fruit flies gather at this time of year.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Wordless Wednesday!
I've had a terrible summer with them this year. Who knows why? At least the crockpot is working for now :)

haha, my husband would love that!
DeleteI plan on picking apples later in the month. Meanwhile I would love to get my hands on 21 lbs of tomatoes!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could send you some - we have tons of tomatoes!
DeleteI hate fruit flies...we have them all of a sudden as well!
ReplyDeleteugh! Thankfully it'll be too cold for them (around here) in a few weeks.
DeleteI do this too, but mostly because of a lack of storage space :) Although the fruit flies are starting to emerge again.
ReplyDeleteIt does help keep the counters clean :)
DeleteI've not had fruit flies for a while, thankfully! My former local fruit store used to attract a lot due to lots of over ripe (cheap) fruit. It's a good use of resources though - if I ever lose my current luxurious space I'll need to do this!
ReplyDeleteWe bought these at the farmer's market, which often has tons of fruit flies (especially the outdoor parts) and I wonder if we inadvertently brought some home with us . .
