Summer Vacation

Back in February, I mentioned that Mr. G and I had started considering locations for our anniversary trip in June. In years past, we've vacationed in Daytona Beach and California

After finding out I was pregnant though, we decided to pick somewhere within driving distance. Not only will it be cheaper, but it's good for peace of mind because the thought of flying makes me a little uneasy. (I had to take a ferry ride for work a few weeks ago and it couldn't end fast enough.)

Coincidently, one of my friends at work was raving about her vacation last year and how she can't wait to go back this year. Of course my ears pricked up and I asked her a million questions, then brought home her suggestion to Mr. G, who loved it. We've booked our stay in June to St. Michaels, Maryland - a small town on the bay.
We're excited! They have walking trails along the water, lots of seafood for Mr. G, museums, kayaking tours, and the place we're staying has a pool :) I'm undecided about buying a maternity swimsuit - I don't want to spend the money if I don't need to, and my bikini bottoms are low enough to sit under my bump for now . . I'll have to wait and see how much I grow.

Soo looking forward to getting away and relaxing!

  1. Driving distance is definitely nice (I'm guessing it is within a few hours?). Driving 22 hours in 2 days to Florida when I was 20+ weeks pregnant wasn't the most enjoyable haha. It looks so nice in the photos! Since it is fairly close you could also go back in years to come with your family. We have a few "regular" getaways that we return to year after year. I especially love taking DH and the boys to the place where I spent many summers as a child!

    1. My family drove to Disney, so I feel your pain! I don't think I'd be a pleasant traveling companion if we went that far while I was pregnant though, haha! It would be great to have a "regular" spot we could return to with the baby. Many of the first vacations Mr. G and I went on together were to places we'd been previously with our families - it's so much fun to show the other person around. :)

  2. Oops...I think the comment I left earlier got eaten! The pics look lovely, it looks like a beautiful place to relax. Did you end up buying the swimsuit? I bought one when I was pregnant and only managed to wear it a handful of times, but it got passed on to my sister. The trend now in Australia seems to be bikinis, no special swimwear, right up to the third trimester! Hope you have a very relaxing time away.

    1. So sorry about the comment! Thank you for leaving it again :)

I going to try to get away with just the bikini for now rather than a special suit. I'll be 21-22 weeks so not huge by any means. I'm so glad to hear ladies in Australia are doing the same, makes me feel less weird!

  3. Congratulations on expecting your new Giraffe :-) I look forward to hearing about your vacation spot. My husband and I don't have a lot of driving stamina, and like finding places not too far from home.

    1. Thank you! :)

I plan on doing another post after we return to share our thoughts and some photos. Google says St Michaels is about 2 and a half hours from you. Not too bad!
