Little Miss Giraffe
Our family expanded earlier this week! Ahh still in shock that I have a baby! She is happy and healthy though and I'm recovering fine :)
I chose to have her at a birth center and it was perfect. A relatively short labor and then I delivered her in a giant bathtub. I would definitely have a water birth again! Pushing was the hardest part and crowning was painful for me (though I'd already forgotten how bad it hurt when they put her on my chest) but I'm glad I did it drug free because I could feel everything and giving birth is an incredible feeling. Plus I was super proud of myself afterwards, haha!
We love her so much. Just soaking in every minute.
I'm not sure I want to post her name and have it searchable on the blog, so check out this list - her name is number 8.
And to think, last November we thought we couldn't have children. Feeling sooo grateful! :)
Oh and please excuse my absence around the web these past few weeks . . honestly, I probably won't be back to regular reading and commenting til Christmas time.
Because I'm taking care of a baby! :)

Congratulations on the arrival of your sweet little Number 8! :-) I'm so happy for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cat! :)
DeleteOh, Amanda!!! CONGRATULATIONS! She is so beautiful (and gorgeous name, too!) And to think you were told this could never happen. So glad the birth went so well and you are very brave going the no-drugs option - what a feeling afterwards! Wishing you every happiness together and all the joys of family life and the wonderful journey that lies ahead. So thrilled for you! xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks Fiona! Isn't it crazy how things turn out? :) Yes, hubby says he will always the remember the look on my face when they first handed her to me. I was in shock but also in love!
DeleteCONGRATULATIONS! Such a great name - my friend ago was tossing up Scarlette __ or Harriet ___ (where is your daughters name). I said to her, if you are sure of that middle name, make it the first name. And she did, seven years ago I think!
ReplyDeleteNo meds is a feat undoubtedly - impressive!
Thanks, Sarah! Choosing a name was super tough for us. You gave your friend good advice! :)
DeleteShe is beautiful!!!! Congrats to all of you. Sounds like everything went just wonderfully. So clever on posting the name too!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kristy! I am so glad things went smoothly - that was one of my biggest fears. A childbirth class can only prepare you so much, hah!
DeleteAmanda! I am so excited for you. Congratulations! What a loved and wanted baby she will be. I look forward to updates if you are ever able to. Take care of yourself!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dar! We're so happy she's here! I hope to be back to blogging next year but I'll play it by ear once she's a bit older :)
Deletecongrats.
