Babymoon

Sunrise on Sunday
Mr. G and I decided to go on one last little trip before the baby arrives (called a babymoon around here) so we drove to the beach on Saturday morning, stayed the night, and then came home Sunday evening. It was the perfect short break from work and getting things ready around the house. We spent a lot of time walking and talking, and of course ate way too much like we always do on vacation, haha!

The weather was perfect, sunny and in the 70s (about 22-24° C). The ocean was chilly but it felt good to my hot pregnant body (I've never been a warm person until this pregnancy) and I was happy to get another wear out of my maternity swim suit!

A little less than 6 weeks til my due date!

Crazy to think that on our next beach trip we'll have a baby in tow!

Are babymoons common where you live?

  1. I'd never heard of a babymoon. (My iPhone hasn't either. It wanted to change it to Babylon!) Sounds like a great idea.

And I love the view of your feet over the baby bump. Your feet look so tiny and distant.

    1. Babymoons might be an American thing. The bump is getting huge! I need to take some photos from the side.

  2. Great idea. Very amusing proportions in the photo. You're in countdown mode! First week of November?

    1. We loved it! Yep, I'm due November 1st! 38 days to go if the baby wants to come on time :)

  3. Such a lovely sunrise!

Can you take a side on photo to share how 'popped out' you are?

Our holiday had live in staff, and included a cute little 2 year old. I was in heaven trying to get him to smile and wave and say a few English words (bye bye etc)

    1. We are so excited though it's still surreal to think about being a parent!

  5. Ahhhhh...the relief of being back online properly :-)

Such a beautiful sunrise. Only 38 days to go - wow! Are you still at work? Definitely a great time to get away for a short break together.

As I mentioned on my blog, I'm sure I've seen the term 'babymoon' used in parenting magazines to mean the time after the baby is born when you are in that 'honeymoon' phase of just being awestruck at this new little person. Either way, I really like the term!

    1. Sunrises make mornings even better :)

Yes, still at work. Maternity leave at my work is 12 weeks unpaid so I will (hopefully!) be working up until the last minute so I can use that time after the baby arrives.
