Plus One More Giraffe
Yes, it's crazy - I'm pregnant. Ahhh!
I was feeling off the last week of February. Mr. G and I agreed I'd take a pregnancy test on Saturday morning (our work schedules don't mesh any more so we're only both home and awake at the same time on weekends). I saw that second pink line and immediately sank to floor, head in my heads. It was such a shock!
Mr. G was surprised (and I think a little overwhelmed too though he'd never admit it) - he drove to the store for another brand of test, and all told I took 5 that morning. Ha!
We just stared at all those positive tests and each other. Then we moved on to elation + surprise. :)
I still kind of can't believe it. It's hard to wrap your head around! I've toyed with the idea that perhaps our infertility diagnosis was inaccurate but it doesn't really matter. Sometime this fall, we'll have a baby! (I'm officially due November 1st, but not holding my breath.)
The first trimester was rough. The secret for me was 10 hours of sleep a night and forgiving myself for eating nothing but carbs and dairy all day, every day. Maybe that means I'll have a baby that loves cheese and sleep? :)
At any rate, I'm feeling more like myself these days (holding on to that 8 o'clock bedtime, though) and glad I can enjoy this pregnancy and all the fun stuff still to come - the ultrasound coming up next month, feeling the baby move! Yay!
Life is good!

You two are going to be amazing parents! That little bundle of joy is lucky to have two caring, loving, and responsible adults taking it on! Good luck in your future adventures and Namaste! :-)

ReplyDeleteThanks Meghan! :)
DeleteThis is just the most amazing news! I'm so excited for you, just like I shared your pain when you guys were diagnosed as being infertile. Just such a wonderful blessing. Explains the silence on blogging in the best possible way. Feel free to post as much as you want about the baby - we're a similar age, and I'd love to be having kids!
ReplyDeleteGosh kicking myself that two days of work meant I missed this news the minute you broke it to the world! YAY!
I wonder how much money those pee stick companies make from 'buy another one to check' like you guys ;)
DeleteThank you for the support! It feels wonderful to have friends who care so much!
DeleteI will definitely be posting about the pregnancy & baby - let me know if you have a specific topic or questions :)
Oh, those pee stick companies make plenty! We've told our story a bunch of times now and usually there's at least one couple in the room who did the same, haha!
I would like to know about the weird stuff you feel... if you feel comfortable sharing it! How bad sleeping is pre baby etc etc
DeleteDefinitely! It is a weird experience :)
DeleteOh how thrilling! Thanks for sharing the news. I am so happy for you both. Like Sarah said, don't hold off on the pregnancy and baby posts!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dar! I'm happy I can finally write about what's been going on :)

I'm kicking myself that my feed reader died and I'm only getting news when I manually click-and-check!
Please bring on the baby news!! I want to cry I'm so happy for you, especially after all you've been through.
Wow!!
Aww, thank you Fiona! You made my day! :)
DeleteI thought I posted congrats on this but I cannot see my comments. I know I've been thinking of you - as my niece is pregnant too. First of the next generation to do so. So exciting.
ReplyDeleteI'm starting here and will read forward so I hope all is going well for you.
Edited to add: and now I remember why. Blogger won't let me. Grrrrr!
