Rainy Saturday

The perfect activity for a dreary Saturday morning?

Paying a visit to the garden center, where it's always warm and colorful.

Are garden centers your idea of a good time?

  1. I used to visit garden centres regularly but haven't gone for ages. Wish I had time and energy for a spot of gardening.

Like the hanging ferns and orchids in the photo.

    1. Yeah I don't have time right now but its nice to dream. :) Plus its a little too early to plant anything just yet.

  2. Our planting season usually starts the 3rd week of May, so the garden centres aren't open much before that. I think we have one indoor greenhouse for house plants...must drop by!

    1. Yeah our last frost date isn't til May so I'm not why they bring everything out so early but I do enjoy the greenery when its yucky outside.

    2. I never thought that garden centres would have seasonal opening hours. That's the thing about bein in a place with mild weather, there's always something you can plant. Not advisable in summer, though, as it is too hot for most plants to take root.

    3. Mild weather most of the year sounds so nice as we're finally coming out of winter. :) I wonder if I'd miss the cold and snow.

    1. Very true! I would love a shopping spree at a garden place.

  4. Yep, love a good browse of a garden centre, though my chosen 'pick me up' is usually to browse a book store, and add to my library reading list. Awww my happy place.

    1. Ooh, the library and book store are great happy places. Definitely will take my minds off my worries :)

  5. I wish I had a green thumb but I've pretty much accepted I don't! I'm toying with the idea of putting one planter on our porch to swap out flowers and greenery seasonally. Low maintenance and fairly inexpensive. I also love buying potted daffodils or mums in the Spring for the table inside.

    1. My thumb isn't the greenest, either! I definitely have a lot to learn. Low maintenance is how I like it too :)

  6. Tried to comment from my phone a few days ago, but never seems to go through (*my phone's fault.) Garden centres are definitely my idea of a good time...we got out last Saturday and did just that! So relaxing and fun. Hope your studies are going well!

    1. There's something about being surrounded by plants that relaxes me too. :)

Studies are going well as far as getting things checked off . . I just have to keep it up!

  7. Gardening centers, like book stores, have a bad habit of getting me in trouble. As I wander through both of them I see far to many ideas of things I'd like to get with far to little money and far to little time. I LOVE them both dearly though as I am a reader of almost everything and have a very green thumb and will try most things at least once. This is why I have to be so careful what stores I go into, I wander into trouble so easily. :)

    1. Oh yes - gardening and books are both dangerous for me money-wise. Wouldn't it be nice to have a library for plants so you could try out different things and see if you're able to keep them alive before committing to buying one?

    2. That would be wonderful as I love Orchids, but they're delicate, and horrifically tempermental flowers that I have spent a lot of money over the years on. I could've saved myself a good chunk of change.

    3. It's a shame they're so tough to take care of - they're beautiful!
