Battle of the Wool Ball

We use wool dryer balls in the dryer to speed up the process a bit and hopefully save a little energy. (I prefer to dry stuff in the sun - weather permitting - but since I live in a humid place, there are times when things start to mold before they are dry. And sometimes I'm just lazy.)

So as I was folding laundry the other day, one of the wool balls fell out of a pant leg and Dottie immediately pounced on it. Before I could even react, she had knocked the ball down the stairs and was intent on killing it. After laughing at her silliness for a few minutes, I took a couple of pictures . .

She's also been caught attacking an octopus and onion. Nothing like a goofy kitty cat to melt my heart :)

What do your cats like to play with?

    1. Me too!

And I saw your crayon post - those are some well loved crayons! :) But my comment disappeared into the internet void when I tried to leave you one. Bleh.

  2. So cool, an eco-friendly kitty! Each of our cats plays with something different -- Beardslee plays with jingly balls (I giggle typing that), Winston prefers the little mouse he can "kill" and hide in our shoes, and Jasper loves the squishy, cuddly "kickeroos" (so that he can snap their "necks," then hug and kiss them back to health...it's sweet in a sick way). :-)

    1. How adorable! We find mice in shoes around here too, but all the really noisy toys (like jingly balls, lol) are too loud for my kitties.

  3. Gosh... I've never heard of a wool dryer ball. I'll have to do some research on that! Smoky will play with ANYTHING! Seriously, that cat tries to knock pictures off the wall because he figures they were put there to entertain him. Jasper loves to sit in my lap when I'm wearing a hoodie with strings in the hood - he'll play with them for hours. And Sputty used to love to play with my shoelaces. As soon as I'd bring out my shoes he'd come running to pounce on them - oh dear... just remembering that made me tear up. Sigh.

    1. Aww I'm sorry! :(

Dottie would probably join Smoky in his quest to "renovate" by knocking things off the walls . . sounds right up her alley!

  4. Never heard of wool dryer balls either. Just looked them up. Like how they separate clothes. But if they all come scented, I wouldn't want them. Can you get unscented ones?

    1. Yep, they're great! I've seen them unscented on etsy.com :)

  5. Must. resist. cat. urges.

Dottie might be convincing me to give in to Mr. 9's ongoing requests for a cat. I think it's just a matter of time. Maybe after our trip?

    Sooo cute!

    1. haha, I have to resist the cat urges myself. The Saturdays I visit the pet store always seem to be Cat Saturday with tons of cats for sale and it's so hard to leave without bringing one home!

  6. What a great hybrid cat toy! Like a ball of yarn that doesn't unwind. My sister's cat loved rubber spiders called Wally wall walkers. She would bite their legs off and leave them in her water dish.

    1. I've never heard of those spiders. Dottie bites the legs off crickets and leaves those around so maybe she'd like them too. (although on second thought, maybe I should just let her play with the dryer balls so I don't have to clean anything up.)
